A Time of Celebration or Stress?
Is this truly a time of celebration for all? As much as we would like to think that the holiday season is a joyful time for all, it actually is not. During these times, some families have a hard time because they struggle financially or have experienced some sort of family crisis. So, as you think of this season, remember that everyone is in a different place mentally and financially. As a result, encourage someone with a kind word, a smile, or maybe just a “it’s going to be alright.”
If you are financially or emotionally blessed, be the person that is willing to bless someone else. God blesses us so we can bless others. When my kids were growing up, despite our financial status, I would always have them give a gift to a less fortunate person or organization. It was my prayer that they would grow up being willing to give and not be controlled by the “love of money.”
During this season, teach the young people to give to a “giving/Christmas tree” or some change to the Salvation Army outside of the stores. A dime or dollar can go a long way when combined with other dimes and dollars. Remember, it is more blessed to give then to receive. May you be able to bless others during this season of blessings.
